On Sunday, March 6, 2016, the Virginia Chefs Association, the Virginia chapter of the American Culinary Federation, held its annual Gala Awards Dinner at Waypoint Seafood and Grill in Williamsburg, Virginia. This event honors those VCA Members who excel in perfecting their culinary craft.
This year, the association's top award of VCA Chef of the Year, went to RFEC member Chef Hans J. Schadler
Chef Schadler responded to this honor with the following letter to the VCA.
"To be recognized as the Virginia Chefs Association Chef of the Year is a great honor. Receiving such an acknowledgement from my peers is humbling, especially at this stage of my career."
"I am reminded of the many important friendships and relationships I have made from this group of culinary professionals. These connections combined with the knowledge and experience I have gained through the VCA has had an invaluable impact on my life and career. Providing opportunities for new culinary professionals is as important today as it was when the association began decades ago. Our continued commitment to the next generation of culinary artists will keep our chapter strong for years to come."
"The VCA and the culinary arts has been and always will be a part of me. I continue to be a proud member of such a one of the leading chapters of the American Culinary Federation."
